Sahithya Samithi

It was in 1953 that the Sahithya Samithi took its formal birth. Practically it was an off shoot of the previous elocution classes. It is also prestigious wing of library. The regular weekly programmes of the commitee included literary classes based on poetry, short story, novel, biography etc , debates on subjects like new trends in literary cultural and political areas, on new books and cinemas. Celebration of the birth centenaries of great poet like Sri Ulloor and Sri.Vallathol, presentation of members own literary creations for discussion in the presence of eminent writers brought in etc. These programs provided members of  library acquainted the literary-cultural world and inspired in literal creativity. In fact, many of its members has become good writers and speakers.
